Patton’s
Professional Practice // Fall 2025
A western clothing store based in Ruston, Louisiana. They sell everything from hats to boots and belts.
Process
I begin each design process with a word list. A list of images, symbols, or ideas that can move along my design process in its beginning stages.
Motifs
stars
barbed wire
hats + boots
horse shoes
fleur de lis
deer antlers
magnolias
Next, I start sketching to get all my ideas out on paper. After that, I digitize the ideas that have the most potential. I start the official logo process by searching through typefaces and trying them out.
Product
I decided to create a combination between barbed wire and a fleur de lis to show that Patton’s is a Louisiana-based western wear company. The barbed fleur de lis is the logomark with the typeface named “Barbaro” being the font for the logotype. I was inspired by jeans companies like Levi’s and Dickie’s when developing these final products. Other aspects I included in the various logos shown below are their established year and “Western Wear” to tell more about their brand.
